Guidelines
For Walking the
Labyrinth
-
Imagine the journey through the
Labyrinth as a parallel for your own spiritual journey. Your Labyrinth journey
is in three stages:
- Releasing
- As you begin your walk,
you may choose to focus on your breathing, letting your body relax. Your mind
starts to clear, you are able to release the concerns, pressures and stresses
you carry that distract you from your Divine source. Let go of these emotions
and feelings.
-
- Receiving
Reaching the Labyrinth’s center, you come to find your true center, a
place of peace, calm, and tranquility. Here you can pray or meditate and receive
clarity and illumination. Pray about certain parts of your life or just rest in
the Divine presence.
-
- Integrating
-
You walk out from the center along the same path that brought you in,
focusing on integration and commitment. You take what you found at the center
back into your relationships, roles and responsibilities. You re-enter the world
with a new sense of yourself and your relationship with God.
No two people walk the Labyrinth in the same way. Every person’s experience
is different and each time you walk the Labyrinth it will be different for you
no matter how many times you walk it. When walking the Labyrinth it is helpful
to let all thoughts, concerns, and stresses go and open yourself to experience
whatever your Divine power has for you.
- You can walk the Labyrinth with a question, challenge, or personal issue you
are dealing with. As you enter the Labyrinth with an open mind and heart, you
prepare yourself to receive answers and insights about your life.
