4 Youth

Our youth were busy last month. We enjoyed the annual “Flick Night”, where we watched a lot of movies outside under the stars and some of us were brave enough to sleep under the stars. We were greeted in the morning by the “gleaners”. A few of our youth, after not much sleep, ventured out to Canal Point and picked corn. That’s what I call a great end-of-Lent experience.
As a wrap up to Lent in youth group, the youth took a look at their lives to see where God is welcome. They used a mansion as their life and drew different rooms that represented parts of their lives, such as school, friends, youth group, parents, etc. In each part of their life or ”room,” they placed a number between 1-10, 10 represent God is always welcome, 1 representing God is least welcome. It was a great project to evaluate and compare their life to their spiritual life. And they were amazed at what parts of their life “needed renovating” - in other words, where they need to allow God into their lives more. It might be a great exercise for us to do, examining our life and making sure all the doors are open and God is always welcome.
The 6th Annual Youth Mission Auction and Dinner Dance was loads of fun and lots of work. Thank you to all of you who came out to enjoy the 70’s flash-back, music from Loose Ends and the chill-out corner with authentic magazines, newspapers and snacks from the 70’s! Leave it to those creative people to think this up and thanks to their parents for never throwing anything away! Many thanks to the gang who transformed the Parish Hall into a disco. Thank you all who worked hard in the kitchen and setting up. And a very special THANK YOU to all the youth who took time out of their busy schedules to work hard at the dinner.
